"A Small Town Christmas Story" Written December 25, 2010

One sweet Christmas,
A girl got on her knees and prayed,
She gave her heart to Jesus,
Hoping it wasn't too late.

Her father had cancer,
Her mother wasn't home,
She stayed with her sister,
So she wasn't alone.

Her older sister rocked the girl on her lap,
As the night hours grew long,
Many minutes passed,
As she waited for her parents to come home.

The Christmas tree was glowing with the lights wrapped around it,
The few presents they had wrapped lay underneath,
They tried to keep the Christmas Spirit,
As the snow outside fell in sheets.

The snow fell like frozen tears of an angel,
As they fell to the ground,
She watched it as it fell,
As the warmth of the fire spread around.

Her sister  told her the story of Christmas,
The night Christ was born,
How Jesus died for us,
And that he was the one she adored.

That night, her mother walked in with the problems of her day carried on her shoulders,
Saw her daughters on there knees in front of the tree,
The young one praying for daddy, the other for the soldiers,
And she too got on her knees.

The mother left her worries with her bags next to the door that night,
The older sister rocked the girl to sleep,
She knew everything would be alright,
"Cause Jesus died for me."
